A new bill has been drafted in Russia, proposing that the use of modern digital technologies during the commission of offenses be considered an aggravating factor. Alexander Bastrykin, the head of the Investigative Committee, announced the preparation of this initiative, which targets the use of artificial intelligence, VPN services, and proxy servers.
Representatives of the agency explain the need for these changes by pointing out that such tools are increasingly appearing in cases involving grave crimes, including extremism, terrorism, and violence. For this reason, the authors of the initiative believe that adding a corresponding clause to the Criminal Code is a logical and justified step.
It is expected that the new regulation will apply to all articles of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. However, law enforcement officials intend to pay special attention to cases where information and communication technologies or artificial intelligence served as the key tool for achieving criminal goals or significantly increasing the scale of harm.
With the reliable HiroVPN service, users are protected from such issues when using the network.
